The Groundskeeper was travelling back to Fernland for the annual Groundskeeping Conference. He had retired but he was invited as this year's special guest speaker. He was excited to be returning to Fernland but some things had changed since he was last there.
The Groundskeeper's plane landed on the runway at Fernland International Airport and he peered out the window to gaze at his beloved Fernland when he noticed something odd. As the plane taxied towards the terminal he noticed a large SirTech banner draped from the side of the terminal building. "Huh that wasn't there before" he pondered to himself. The Groundskeeper was a seasoned traveller so airports changing ownership or entering branding deals wasn't that unusual but he had never heard of SirTech before.
The Groundskeeper disembarked the plane with the other passengers and walked towards the terminal building, there was more security than he remembered but he mostly was enjoying the smell of gingerbread and damp pine trees that seemed to always waft through the air in Fernland.
At the arrival gate a friendly security agent in her dark green uniform checked The Groundskeeper's passport and travel documents and stamped it before waving him through to the chastity checkpoint. The Groundskeeper was used to the chastity checkpoints in Fernland, as he had originally helped install them, but this one seemed newer. As The Groundskeeper stepped through the checkpoint a red light started blinking and an airport security guard raised an eyebrow at him. "Step this way please" said the guard. The Groundskeeper never used to have these problems.
The guard led him to a screened off area and asked him to show her his cage. It was his trusty Fernland Mk1 Chastity Device that he had worn all those years as Missy's groundkeeper. "Sorry Sir but these older cages aren't compatible with the new SirTech system. You'll have to get fitted for a new belt within your first two days. The nearest fitting station is in the town square opposite the pillory cage. Do you need a map?" said the guard. The Groundskeeper knew his way to the town square so declined and headed into the airport foyer.
Fern was waiting for The Groundskeeper in the foyer holding up a sign like they do in the movies, not that she needed to. She had started to write The Groundskeeper THE WORLD'S BEST SUPER AMAZING GROUNDS KEEPER but clearly realised she'd run out of room as the lettering tapered off becoming smaller and smaller. The Groundskeeper had hoped Missy would also come to meet him but she was nowhere to be seen.
"Welcome back!" said Fern.
"It's good to be back but things seem a little different" said The Groundskeeper.
Fern explained that it all started when SirTech moved to Fernland. Missy was good at organising festivals and designing royal gardens but it turned out she wasn't very good at running a business. The chastity belt factory where Fern worked had run into hard times and Carol had suggested putting it up for sale. SirTech ended up buying the factory and everyone had kept their jobs, and the acquisition meant that Missy had more time to focus on her royal duties, but things slowly started to change. First it was the belts. The factory started to only manufacture SirTech belts and the older Fernland Mk1 Chastity Devices became obsolete, then SirTech upgraded the checkpoint system so that they would only be compatible with SirTech belts, then the remote unlocking system was updated by SirTech.
"The whole town is locked by SirTech now" sighed Fern as she slightly lifted her blouse to show the waistband of her SirTech chastity belt.
"Where's Missy?" asked The Groundskeeper.
"She's in her castle planning this year's Earth Day celebration." said Fern.
"It's sponsored by SirTech this year" she continued.
